Waukesha County Museum in Waukesha, Wisconsin will present a special exhibit of original artwork by John Lennon, as well as a collection of rare Beatles memorabilia. The exhibit is titled "Coming Together Through the Art of John Lennon." The artwork on display will include a collection of John Lennon’s original drawings, serigraphs, and lithographs, said to be the third largest collection in the world, provided by a private collector. According to the museum, items on exhibit will include several of Lennon’s original drawings, such as "Double Fantasy" and "Give Peace a Chance" as well as portraits of Lennon with his wife, Yoko Ono, and their sons Julian and Sean. There will also be four original erotic drawings similar to drawings from Lennon's Bag One series. These items, which include some nudity, will be on display for viewers over 18 only.

According to an article in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Lennon artwork collector is a Waukesha County resident who wants to remain anonymous. The collector is said to have contacted the museum after learning that officials were struggling to raise money to complete an exhibit honoring Waukesha-born music legend Les Paul.

The Beatles memorabilia that will be on display will include a collection of actual recorded singles and albums, original U.S. concert tour programs, newsreels and photographs documenting the group’s visit to Milwaukee in 1964. Also on display will be the actual studio microphone used by Lennon to record his iconic single, "Imagine".

The exhibit will debut with a grand opening ceremony on August 15, 2008. It opens to the general public on August 16, 2008 and continues through September 1, 2008.
