Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood has been painting as long as he has been playing music. He says in the bio at his website, "Art and music were my passions from an early age and my teachers encouraged me to take them further." His artwork was first shown on a TV art show called BBC's Sketch Club when he was ten. He went on to study art at Ealing Art College. Throughout his musical career, Ronnie Wood has continued to pursue his art. He started showing his art publicly in the 1980s. In the 1990s, he began putting his artwork into galleries in cities where the Stones were appearing and has since had many exhibitions around the world. Ronnie Wood also co-owns (along with sons Jamie and Tyrone) a London art gallery called Scream. Much of Ronnie Wood’s artwork includes his Rolling Stones bandmates as the subjects. One very nice painting, titled "Conversation Piece", shows Ronnie along with Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts at work in the recording studio. But my favorite is his painting "Get Up, Stand Up" of Bob Marley, with his guitar in his hands and his dreadlocks flying through the air. Recently Ronnie Wood designed a theme for Google's iGoogle personalized search pages.

Ronnie Wood's latest collection, Paint it Black, will be on exhibit at Gallery Number One in Dublin, Ireland from June 19 to July 6, 2008.
