Portrait of Heath Ledger is a Finalist for Australia’s Archibald Prize
A portrait of late actor Heath Ledger by artist Vincent Fantauzzo is a finalist for the 2008 Archibald Prize for portraiture. The portrait, shown here, consists of three images, a large central image of a shirtless Ledger looking somewhat tired, and two smaller images grinning and whispering into the ears of the central image. According to an article in The Art Newspaper, Fantauzzo says that he intends to give the portrait to Ledger’s family. Vincent Fantauzzo is a Fine Art graduate of RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. The Archibald Prize is awarded each year to a resident of Australia for the best portrait preferentially of a man or woman distinguished in Art, Letters, Science or Politics. The winner will be announced March 7, 2008. The portraits will be on display at the Art Gallery of New South Wales from March 8, 2008 to May 18, 2008.
