Actor Tony Curtis will participate in the 2009 Sedona Arts Festival in Sedona, Arizona, by showing his artwork, showing his films, and signing books. He will kick off the week on Wednesday, October 7th with a private reception at Goldenstein Gallery, where his artwork will be on exhibit. Thursday October 8th, two of Curtis' films, “Some Like it Hot” and “Sweet Smell of Success,” will be shown at Harkins Theatres including a live interview of Tony Curtis with Robert Osborne, host of Turner Classic Movies. On Friday the October 9th there will be “An Intimate Evening with Tony Curtis,” in the ballroom of the L’Auberge de Sedona resort. Curtis will also be making an appearance and book signing at the Festival on Saturday the 10th, from 11 am -1pm, where his art will be available, and he will be having daily artist receptions from 11 am- 1 pm at Goldenstein Gallery.
According to the bio at his website (http://www.tonycurtis.com/) Tony Curtis has had a second career as a painter, assemblage creator, and sketcher since the early 1960s. It goes on to say that his work can command more than $50,000 a canvas and that he now focuses on his art rather than movies. Curtis says "I still make movies but I'm not that interested any more. I paint all the time."
