Award winning songwriter and singer Carole Bayer Sager began painting part-time in 2006 and currently works full-time in her painting studio. She paints portraits, abstract and “abstracted subjects” on canvas. Sager says “I was always of the school of write what you know, and I guess I believe in painting what you know, because it’s the most honest.”
The next exhibition of Carole Bayer Sager’s paintings, NEW WORKS, will open with a reception Thursday, September 18, 2014 at William Turner Gallery in Santa Monica.
According to the gallery:
The paintings explore notions of obsession and perception, utilizing foods that are embedded in our pop cultural DNA. By drastically changing their size and scale, the artist invites viewers to take an abstract look – up close or at a distance – bringing their own associations to grilled cheese sandwiches, chocolate candies, and confectionary explosions. The richly detailed compositions are sensual provocations, enticing desire and temptation, through the wonderfully seductive qualities of paint.
