“Natures Bounty” Tapestry by Tony Curtis
The estate of actor and artist Tony Curtis will be auctioned in September 2011 by Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills. Among the nearly 500 items in the auction is a large collection of fine art pieces from his art collection, as well as dozens of original art pieces created by Tony Curtis himself. A portion of the proceeds from the auction will benefit Shiloh Horse Rescue, a charitable organization founded by Jill and Tony Curtis that rescues and rehabilitates abused, neglected and slaughter-bound horses.

The auction includes original paintings and drawings by Tony Curtis and well as mixed media assemblage shadowboxes of found objects and photographs, hand painted ceramic vases, and giclées with applied objects and hand painted enhancements.

Other fine art items in the auction include a Andy Warhol Some Like it Hot Shoe, given to Tony Curtis as a gift by Warhol, drawings by Balthus, ceramics and prints by Picasso, Braque, and Chagall, and a collection of 20th century American, British, and European paintings. The auction also includes awards, mementos, photographs, letters, clothing, and personal effects from all phases of Tony Curtis’ life and career.
The auction takes place September 17th, 2011 at Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills. An exhbition of the auction items will take place Tuesday, September 6th – Friday, September 16th. Contact Julien’s Auctions for more information.
