Graham Nash, Self Portrait
Music legend Graham Nash, founding member of Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, has had a lifelong interest in photography. In 1990, along with his partner Mac Holbert, Nash founded Nash Editions, a company which does fine art digital imaging and printmaking. Nash Editions is recognized as the world’s first professional fine-art digital printmaking studio. In 2005 Nash Editions was recognized by the Smithsonian Institution for its role in the invention of digital fine art printing.
Later this month Graham Nash will receive the title of George Eastman Honorary Scholar at George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film in Rochester, New York. According to the museum, Nash is being honored for his contribution to photography as an artist and innovator. Past recipients of the title include Dennis Hopper and Jeff Bridges.
George Eastman House is described as the world’s oldest photography museum and one of the world’s oldest film archives. It opened to the public in 1949 and occupies the former home of George Eastman, the founder of Eastman Kodak Company, and the father of modern photography and the inventor of motion picture film. Taking Aim, an exhibition of memorable photographs from the history of popular music selected by Graham Nash, is currently on display at George Eastman House.
Graham Nash will receive the Honorary Scholar title and discuss his career and the Taking Aim exhibition Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011 in the Dryden Theatre, at George Eastman House. The event will include a book signing and a benefit dinner with Graham Nash. Tickets are available to the public with proceeds benefitting Eastman House’s educational and exhibition programs. Graham Nash has released several publications of his photography, including, Eye To Eye: Photographs by Graham Nashand Taking Aim: Unforgettable Rock ‘n’ Roll Photographs.
Last year Love, Graham Nash was published. Love, Graham Nash is a limited edition two-book set which includes 17 sets of lyrics, a CD, 21 photographs by Nash, and is personally signed by Graham Nash, Stephen Stills, David Crosby, and Neil Young.
