Mikey Welsh is best known to many people from his time as bassist for the rock band Weezer. He now spends his time focusing on the visual arts. According to the bio at his website, Mikey Welsh is a self-taught artist. He was introduced to art at a young age by his mother, who is a classically-trained painter. Welsh continued to work on art until the age of 19, when he started his music career. At the age of 30, after suffering a nervous breakdown, he dedicated himself to painting full-time.  Welsh has had several successful solo exhibitions.

Mikey Welsh’s next exhibit opens Saturday May 1, 2010 at The Slingluff Gallery in Philadelphia.
